KANSAS CITY — Banana is the featured fruit flavor in several new grain-based foods, including baking mixes, cereals and bars.
The J.M. Smucker Co’s new limited-edition Pillsbury cake mix is bursting with banana flavor. New Pillsbury Moist Supreme Banana Split cake mix features banana-flavored cake with specks of strawberry flavor.
To add to the appeal of its Raisin Bran cereal, the Kellogg Co. is introducing Raisin Bran with Bananas, featuring slices of banana, crispy bran flakes, raisins and whole grains.
“We’re committed to providing the tasty and nutritious food options our consumers want,” said Sam Minardi, marketing director for Kellogg’s Morning Foods. “So, we looked to consumer requests and preferences for our newest addition to the Kellogg’s Raisin Bran lineup, and both led us to Kellogg’s Raisin Bran with Bananas.”
Post Holdings, Inc.’s portfolio is ripe with innovation, including two new cereals featuring bananas. The company’s new Honey Bunches of Oats Banana Bunches with Almonds features granola and banana-flavored flakes infused with banana puree. Post’s new Nilla Banana Pudding cereal, currently a Walmart exclusive, features Nilla Wafer flavored cereal pieces with banana-flavored marshmallows.
Banana also appears in one of Clif Bar & Co.’s new Fruit Smoothie Filled Energy Bars. The strawberry banana variety features a filling made with banana, strawberry, cashew butter and sunflower seed butter.
