WEST HAVEN, CONN. — Watson, Inc. will introduce three premixes at IFT18, the Institute of Food Technologists’ annual meeting and exposition July 15-18 in Chicago. The premixes focus on the trends of brain health, energy, and plant- and whole-food sources. Bars containing the premixes will be available for sampling.
All the prototype bars will be dairy-free and vegan. They will contain nuts and seeds and have no artificial colors or flavors. The bars will be non-G.M.O. and low in sodium.
The premix in the “barilliant” bar will feature brain health benefits. The premix contains bitartrate, potassium iodide and vitamin E. The bar will be an excellent source of both choline and iodine.
The premix in the “get up bar” is designed to provide energy. The premix contains caffeine, theacrine, cyanocobalamin, pyridoxine hydrochloride and folic acid. The bar is an excellent source of vitamin B6, vitamin B12 and folate. It contains 30 mg of caffeine per serving and 3 mg of theacrine per serving. Watson will use its microencapsulation technology to mask the strong flavors of caffeine and theacrine.
The premix in the earth bar contains nutrients that come from plant- and whole-food sources. The premix contains sweet potato flour, acerola cherry extract, vitamin E from sunflowers and mushroom powder.
