SAN LEANDRO, CALIF. — Tortilla maker Mi Rancho plans to expand operations to Elk Grove, Calif. The company has purchased a plant formerly owned by Bimbo Bakeries for $8.1 million and intends to invest $25 million to retrofit the plant and start operations within the next 24 months.
The company manufactures and markets conventional and organic tortillas for the food service, industrial and retail markets. Mi Rancho also supplies chips, tostados and other product to the food service and industrial categories.
The company currently processes approximately 4.5 million tortillas per day and 1.3 billion per year.
