QUINCY, MASS. — Bay State Milling Co. has received Non-GMO Project verification for its HealthSense high-fiber wheat flour. Federal law prevents all wheat grown in the United States from being bioengineered/G.M.O. The third-party verification from the Non-GMO Project means no commingling with G.M.O. ingredients has occurred with the HealthSense flour.
HealthSense wheat flour is derived from high-amylose wheat, which has resistant starch fiber. HealthSense flour may be used in any food product to replace traditional hard wheat flour and increase the amount of fiber in the food product, according to Quincy-based Bay State Milling.
Bay State Milling is the exclusive North American licensee of the high-amylose trait in wheat. The licensor, Arista Cereal Technologies, holds global patents on the process used to select for the trait and has partnered with Bay State Milling.
