SAN ANTONIO — C.H. Guenther & Son has acquired Cookietree Bakeries, producer of premium thaw-and-serve cookies, bake-and-serve cookie dough, brownies and scones. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1981 by Greg Schenck, Cookietree supplies quick-service restaurants, fast-casual restaurants, club stores and retailers from its manufacturing facility in Salt Lake City. The business will continue to operate under the Cookietree brand out of its existing facility.
“Greg and his team have built Cookietree into a market leader in the dessert space,” said Dale Tremblay, chief executive officer of C.H. Guenther & Son. “Their customer-centric culture and commitment to innovation are well-aligned with our core values. We look forward to leveraging our combined capabilities and providing value for customers for years to come.”
Acquired by PPC Partners in April, C.H. Guenther & Son manufactures branded and private label food products for food service clients and consumer markets. Its brands include Pioneer, White Wings, Sun-Bird and Cuisine Adventures. The acquisition of Cookietree grows the company to more than 3,000 employees in 21 food manufacturing locations in the United States, Canada and Western Europe.
“C.H. Guenther & Son’s global capabilities, manufacturing expertise and food safety focus will allow Cookietree to continue providing excellent service to our existing customers while also expanding our business,” Mr. Schenck said. “C.H. Guenther & Son’s and PPC’s family legacies and commitment to long-term business-building make them both ideal partners for Cookietree.”
