KANSAS CITY — Innovations in protein-packed products are permeating the grain-based foods segment.
Continental Mills, Inc.’s Krusteaz brand is introducing Buttermilk Protein Flapjack & Waffle Mix. Made from 100% whole grain flour, the mix provides 15 grams of protein and 4 grams of fiber per serving.
"We wanted to create a protein packed pancake that was made with 100% whole grain flour, was a good source of fiber and had absolutely no artificial ingredients,” said Andy Heily, president of Continental Mills. “By the way, it had to taste amazing. Mission accomplished. Our Chefs have created a truly delicious and nutritious recipe, and we are incredibly excited to introduce it to our consumers."
Lenny & Larry’s is adding a new kind of cookie to its lineup of protein-packed baked goods. New Complete Crunchy Cookies are bite-size, plant protein-packed crunchy cookies in 1.25-oz single-serve packs. Each pack contains 20 grams of protein and 14 grams of fiber. Complete Crunchy Cookies are non-G.M.O., vegan and available in chocolate chip, double chocolate and cinnamon sugar varieties.

Bonk Breaker is launching Premium Protein Bars, a line of bars made with collagen protein, grass-fed whey and prebiotic fiber. Each gluten-free, paleo- friendly bar contains 15 grams of protein and fewer than 200 calories. Varieties include cookies and cream, peanut butter dark chocolate chip and double fudge brownie.
