PICO RIVERA, CALIF. — Matthew M. Kunz and Steve Scales are set to join BakeMark in new senior vice-president roles.

Mr. Kunz has been named senior vice-president of supply chain, effective Sept. 27. He has more than 27 years of experience in supply chain and operations, most recently as senior vice-president of supply chain at Hostess Brands. Earlier in his career he worked at CSM Bakery Supplies North America, Sprint/Nextel and Shell Oil.

He received a bachelor’s degree in transportation and logistics from Iowa State University and a master’s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University.

Mr. Scales has been named senior vice-president of national sales, effective Sept. 28. He has more than 30 years of experience in the food industry, most recently as vice-president of key accounts with Corbion. Earlier in his career he worked at Nestle and Campbell Soup Co.

He received a bachelor’s degree in advertising/marketing from the University of South Florida.

In their new roles at BakeMark, Mr. Kunz will oversee the supply chain and procurement functions within BakeMark, in addition to indirectly overseeing branch operations, while Mr. Scales will oversee national sales. They both will report to Gary Schmidt, who was recently appointed as president and chief executive officer of BakeMark.
