NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Niacet Corp., a producer of propionates and acetates, has expanded its presence in the sodium diacetate category with the acquisition of Jungbuzlauer’s sodium diacetate business. Terms of the transaction were not announced.
“This purchase from Jungbunzlauer fits perfectly with Niacet’s core business, as we have more than 70 years invested in the acetate market,” said Pieter Paul Lamers, managing director at Niacet. “Our products can be found in the food, pharmaceutical, animal nutrition and technical market sectors and this purchase further increases our leading market position.”
In food and beverage manufacturing, sodium diacetate can play a variety of roles. It may be used to regulate acidity in applications, as a flavoring agent to deliver a vinegar taste or as a growth inhibitor to extend product shelf life.
Jungbunzlauer said the decision to sell the business was to align its ingredient portfolio to focus on ingredients produced by fermentation.
