DES MOINES, IOWA — Anita Srivastava, Ph.D., has been named senior product development manager for bakery applications at Kemin Industries in Des Moines. She will support Kemin’s customers in the tortilla segment.
Dr. Srivastava relocated to Des Moines from Atlanta, where she previously directed research programs for a tortilla business. She also previously worked for CSM Bakery Solutions. Dr. Srivastava received a master of science degree in food technology from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology in India and a master of science degree and Ph.D. in food science from the University of Georgia.
“Her extensive experience managing all aspects of the product development process — from benchtop through successful commercialization of food and beverage products — will benefit our commercial partners and assist in the growth and development of this key segment,” said Courtney Schwartz, principal marketing communications manager for Kemin Food Technologies.
Kemin offers a Shield line of liquid mold-inhibitors. They are propionic acid-based blends that control microbes to prevent spoilage and mold growth in tortillas, baked foods with fillings and other products where water activity level and pH are concerns.
