ARLINGTON, VA. — Novice snack makers will have an opportunity to take their company to the next level during a pitch competition at SNAC International’s SNAXPO19, being held March 31-April 2 in Orlando, Fla.
A new event inspired by the television show “Shark Tank,” SNAC Tank will give five finalists a platform to pitch their products and business models to a panel of industry judges for the chance to win $20,000 as well as connect with industry mentors that can help the business scale up.
To participate, snack companies must have a product currently available for purchase. Items with financial backing are preferred. Candidates may apply online and must submit a two-minute video pitch. The application deadline is Feb. 8, and SNAC will announce the five finalists on Feb. 22, 2019. Five semifinalists also will be selected, allowing 10 companies to showcase their products in the SNAC Tank Showcase during exhibit hall hours on April 2.
Barbara Corcoran, investor, entrepreneur and Shark Tank judge, will emcee the competition. She has invested in more than 15 food-related companies throughout her time on the program, including the popcorn company Pipcorn. After the competition, Ms. Corcoran will speak about her career and strategies for success.
