DENVER — Birch Benders is launching pancake and waffle mixes for followers of the high-fat, low-carb ketogenic diet in January. Made with ingredients such as tiger nut flour and sugar-free chocolate chips, the just-add-water mixes contain 5 to 6 grams of net carbs and 9 grams of protein per serving. Tiger nuts are a small tuber with a high resistant starch fiber content.
The introduction of keto pancake and waffles mixes builds on the success of the brand’s paleo mixes, which feature grain-free ingredients such as cassava starch and almond and coconut flours.
Founded in 2012, Birch Benders has become the leading pancake and waffle mix brand in the natural channel and the fastest growing brand in the conventional channel, according to the company.
The new keto mixes will be available in original and chocolate chip varieties at Target stores nationwide for a suggested retail price of $7.99.
