COLDWATER, MICH. — Aunt Millie’s on Jan. 11 closed its baking facility in Coldwater. The company said it will maintain its Bakehouse frozen division in Coldwater.
When plans to close the plant were first announced last fall, John F. Popp, president of Aunt Millie’s, said the decision was “part of a plan to optimize our bakery network. We reached this extremely difficult decision after thoroughly exploring other options.”
Aunt Millie’s has been family-owned since 1901 and employs 1,600 people. Aunt Millie’s operates five other bakeries, including three in Michigan, in Jackson, Kalamazoo and Plymouth. The other two are located in Lowell, Ind., and Sidney, Ohio. Aunt Millie’s produces bread and bakery products that are distributed nationally.
