WEST HAZLETON, PA. — Bimbo Bakeries USA (B.B.U.) will close its site in West Hazleton, Pa., by September 2019.
The plant employs 157 staff members and produces a variety of sliced breads. Production will move to other B.B.U. facilities in the Northeast region.
“Decisions like this are always difficult,” said Bill Bos, vice-president, region operations for B.B.U. “After careful analysis and consideration, we determined it is most efficient to redistribute production to other bakeries in our system to better meet market demand.”
Mr. Bos noted that the baking manufacturer will assist employees during the transition and that human resources representatives will meet with staff to discuss severance packages and other benefits.
