WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department for Health and Human Services on March 12 began accepting public comments on the 2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
Comments may be submitted on the www.regulations.gov web site or mailed to Kristin Koegel, U.S.D.A. Food and Nutrition Service, Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, 3101 Park Center Drive, Room 1034, Alexandria VA 22302. All submissions must include the agency name and Docket FNS-2019-0001.
The first meeting of the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee will take place March 28-29 in Washington. People may attend in person or view a webcast of the meeting online. The committee will examine the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2015-2020, take into consideration new scientific evidence and current resource documents, and develop a report for the secretaries of the U.S.D.A. and H.H.S. The D.G.A.C. in total will hold about five meetings.
The U.S.D.A. and the H.H.S. publish the Dietary Guidelines for Americans every five years.
