TETERBORO, N.J. — In response to consumer demand for more organic and natural products, Symrise is launching a collection of certified organic, Non-GMO Project verified flavors under the company’s new positioning, Code of Nature.
“Symrise’s Code of Nature marks a new platform in its offerings of nutritious, high-powered and flavorful taste solutions for foods and beverages without compromising on quality to appeal to the health and environmentally conscious consumer,” Symrise said. “And, with this new line of flavors, Symrise can provide food and beverage manufacturers with clean, organic flavor ingredients that are as simple and nutritious as nature intended.”
The new collection of flavors is specifically geared toward millennials, Symrise said, as millennial parents make up 52% of all parents purchasing organics for their households. By developing certified organic flavors across a spectrum of traditional flavor profiles, Symrise seeks to help satisfy millennial demand for better-for-you choices with organic and sustainable ingredients.
“Millennials are the fastest-growing demographic of consumers who want what’s best not only for themselves but their families, too,” said Emmanuel Laroche, global marketing leader and vice-president of marketing and consumer insights for Symrise. “So, when it comes to foods and beverages, organics are on the top of their grocery lists.”
Symrise’s new offerings are derived only from natural ingredients and sustainable sources of organic raw materials without the use of synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, G.M.O.s, radiation, antibiotics or growth hormones, Symrise said. All three facilities producing the Code of Nature flavors — Teterboro and Branchburg, N.J.; and Elyria, Ohio – were certified in December 2017 for production of organic flavors by Quality Assurance International (QAI) to meet international (IFOAM) standards of organic accreditation.
“This collection of organic flavors meets all the requirements of QAI certification and gives our consumers peace of mind that they are doing right for themselves and their families,” Mr. Laroche said. “The cross category and cross application opportunities of this new organic line add to Symrise’s diverse and continuously growing library of organic-certified and Non-GMO Project verified flavors.”
