BARCELONA — Europastry is teaming up with Eatable Adventures, a start-up investment network, to launch the Baking the Future Challenge. Through the competition, Europastry hopes to find a food-based start-up that can help it identify “the most innovative and disruptive solutions” to issues it faces as an international baking manufacturer.
Entrants are asked to solve three problems: How can Europastry use e-commerce and distribution technologies to make bread more affordable and accessible to consumers? How can Europastry improve the traceability of its products? What products can Europastry develop to meet the changing needs of consumers?
Baking the Future Challenge finalists will pitch their solutions to a judging panel at Europastry’s innovation lab in Barcelona. Before the competition, select participants will be able to attend a workshop to finalize their proposals.
The competition’s winner will gain access to Europastry’s R.&D. departments, obtain preferential trading and distribution agreements and have the opportunity to add their product to Europastry’s portfolio. In addition, Europastry may invest €100,000 into the start-up if it sees potential in the business.
The application deadline is June 30. To sign up for the competition, visit www.bakingthefuture.com.
