GOSHEN, N.Y. — Organic food company Amy’s Kitchen has broken ground on a new 389,000-square-foot production facility in Goshen.
The vegetarian kitchen will be the California-based company’s first facility located outside of the western United States. Final design of the facility is still underway, and completion of the site will be phased with cooking of the first products expected to begin in fall 2021. Additional products and capabilities will be added over time.
Amy’s Kitchen said it hopes the facility will ultimately run with renewable energy, zero waste to landfill and be LEED certified. The company hopes its presence in the area will help grow the local organic farming industry, and its goal is to source as many ingredients as possible from East coast farms.
“We couldn’t be more delighted to have found a community of likeminded people here in Goshen,” said Andy Berliner, chief executive officer and co-founder of Amy’s Kitchen. “We are thrilled to be breaking ground on our new kitchen in a place that truly reflects our values and are grateful for the incredible support of the local community to help us bring this dream to fruition.”
