LAS VEGAS — BEMA will head three IBIEducate sessions focused on leadership development at the International Baking Industry Exposition, taking place Sept. 7-11 in Las Vegas. From lessons on boosting management capabilities to tactics for retaining top personnel, the presentations will cover a range of topics that can help attendees confidently lead their companies into the future.
On Sept. 7 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the “Lead the Way” session, Emily Bowers, senior director, education and operations, BEMA, and Pat Richards, vice-president organizational development and recruitment at Hearthside Food Solutions and American Bakers Association Front Line Leadership trainer, will explore methods for developing adept leaders. The program covers principles, tools and techniques managers can use to improve organization within operations and retain top talent. Interactive exercises and group discussions are also part of the curriculum.
“Multi-Generational Scramble” on Sept. 9 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. will examine generational differences in the workplace. Led by Ms. Bowers, attendees will learn about the similarities and differences among various age groups and how to effectively oversee associates of all ages. This session takes a deep dive into employee expectations for compensation, benefits and continuing education.
The following day from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Ms. Bowers will also guide the session “Are You an Insightful Leader?” Students will use the Insights Discovery method to uncover their personal leadership style. An evaluative tool, based on the psychology of Carl Jung, the methodology helps people gain a greater understanding of themselves and others, which ultimately enhances relationships within the workplace. Attendees will leave this session with strategies for continuous development at the individual, team and organizational levels.
In addition to these programs, BEMA will also present “A Fresh Look at Sales and Service” on Sept. 8. To learn more about these IBIEducate sessions and others offered during the trade show, click here.
