LOS ANGELES — Jim Parker is returning to the position of president and chief executive officer of BakeMark. Mr. Parker, currently chairman of the company, succeeds Gary Schmidt, who has decided to step down to pursue other opportunities.
Mr. Parker joined BakeMark more than 22 years ago and has held various roles, including senior vice-president of sales and operations for BakeMark USA. He has been responsible for managing the company’s distribution centers and associated activities, including operations, sales, manufacturing and procurement. He was named president and c.e.o. in 2011, positions he held until Mr. Schmidt was named to the posts in July 2018. At that time, Mr. Parker took on the role of chairman.
Before working at BakeMark, Mr. Parker launched a start-up company and managed it as c.e.o. and president for more than 10 years. The company was sold to Beatrice, a division of ConAgra Foods Inc. (now known as Conagra Brands) that later was acquired by International Multifoods.
Before joining BakeMark, Mr. Schmidt was chief operating officer of KanPak, a division of Golden State Foods. He earlier was vice-president of sales and vice-president of global operations at Corbion. Prior to Corbion he held executive roles at Cargill, E.&J. Gallo and Givaudan.
“We want to thank Gary for the hard work and contribution that has been made during Gary’s time with the company,” BakeMark said. “BakeMark is and always will be committed to the success of its customers, colleagues and stakeholders.”
