BLOOMINGTON, MINN. — Roberto Rios has been named chief marketing officer at Schwan’s Co.
Mr. Rios previously was global c.m.o. at PepsiCo, where he led brands including Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Gatorade, Aquafina and LifeWater. Before that, he was c.m.o. of food service and senior vice-president of marketing for PepsiCo North America’s carbonated soft drinks portfolio. He also held marketing positions at several PepsiCo divisions and subsidiaries, including the Frito-Lay snacks division and in countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, Brazil and Mexico.
“As the food industry continues to rapidly change, we are particularly excited about the role Roberto will play in accelerating our company’s digital transformation, building on the strength of our brands, catching trends and meeting evolving consumer preferences and customer needs,” said Dimitrios Smyrnios, chief executive officer at Schwan’s Co.
Mr. Rios joins Schwan’s a year after its acquisition by CJ CheilJedang. The company, which is a unit of South Korea’s CJ Group, acquired an 80% majority stake in the company for $1.84 billion in November 2018. The deal included Schwan’s Co. and its subsidiaries focused on food sold in retail and food service channels.
