MILFORD, CONN. — Subway on Aug. 2 unveiled “Fresh Now,” a new program emphasizing new flavors and a more personalized guest experience. The program, which was piloted in San Diego and is now available in nearly 500 locations across the United States, will roll out to all the quick-service restaurant chain’s outlets by the summer of 2019.
“Fresh Now is the next step toward offering a modern view of the brand and is focused on the Subway flavor experience,” James Walker, vice-president of North America, said during an Aug. 2 presentation at the company’s global annual convention in Washington. “The program lays the foundation for us to layer on new elements and explore new flavors — from the new refreshing beverages to the exciting sauces and freshly cracked spices in the Signature Flavor Station — while delivering an enhanced customized experience to guests.
“The enthusiastic responses from Subway guests and the excitement from franchise owners for this program drove the decision to roll out Fresh Now in all U.S. restaurants by summer 2019. We’re also excited to share that the Fresh Now program will be available at no out-of-pocket costs to eligible franchisees.”
Some of the Fresh Now features include:
- New sauces and ingredients, including Sub Spice blend, mustard seed spread, herbs and lemon seasoning, and Subway Signature herb garlic oil.
- New beverage stations featuring fruit-infused Aguas Frescas, homestyle lemonade, green tea and unsweetened black tea.
- New black and bold menu boards
In addition, some Fresh Now restaurants in San Diego are testing new, regional sandwiches, including a steakhouse melt, California club, Provencal tuna melt and Italian grinder.
