DEBARY, FLA. — Smart Baking Co., a maker of low-carb, gluten-free products, said it will invest more than $1 million to renovate a 50,000-square-foot plant in DeBary. The plant will be located less than 15 minutes from Smart Baking’s headquarters in Sanford, Fla.
“Central Florida is our home, and this new manufacturing facility helps us keep up with demand, while staying local,” said Harvey Heuvel, chief executive officer of Smart Baking Co. “We look forward to working with the city of DeBary and Volusia county as we develop new formulas for snacks that are healthy and taste good.”
Smart Baking Co.’s product lines include low-carb, gluten-free Smartcakes and Smartbuns made from non-G.M.O. ingredients. Smartcakes have 38 calories, 5 grams of fiber and 4 grams of protein, while Smartbuns have 72 calories, 12 grams of fiber and 10 grams of protein.
The company also recently launched a cannabidiol (C.B.D.) line of Smartcakes.
